Rule The World with Jess Levitz | Baby Steps to Move Forward
What does a typical day looks like for you? A typical day for me starts early when my toddler son wakes up, we eat breakfast and do the circus routine to get him dressed and ready for preschool. My husband generally walks him to school on the way to the subway and I head into my home office! I try to start the day quickly checking to see if there are any urgent emails but I mostly try to use my early hours to get creative work done. I tend to be the most fresh in the morning! I then hop on a call everyday at noon to check-in with my business partner and our admin assistant. We discuss what we are working on that day and any other relevant topics that we need to discuss. I then finish out my day either with more design work or focus on email and admin tasks. At 5:30 I walk to pick up my son, and when the weather is nice we will stop at the park and maybe grab a slice of pizza on the way home. The rest of the evening is focused on getting my son to bed and then spending some time with my husband (and sometimes working more!) before we go to sleep. Not exactly the most exciting, but feel very lucky to be able to be a freelance designer and live in New York City.
Why did you create this quote for the planner? Often we are told to dream big and have lofty goals – which is great, but can also be incredibly overwhelming. Remembering that even the smallest of steps move you forward helps to decrease the overwhelm and encourages you to appreciate the small tasks that lead you to your ultimate goal.
Why did you create this pattern? I am a big fan (like all my millennial ladies!) of house plants. These plants are based on many of the plants I have around my own home :)
What’s your favorite productivity tip? Keep a clear calendar with tasks that you update often! I find that if I don't write something down it most likely will get forgotten.
The important stuff - what’s your favorite dessert? Hard one! But I will go with the Roasted Banana Ice Cream flavor at Bi-Rite in San Francisco. Wish they had a shop here in NYC!
Current Netflix binge: The Letdown, a hilarious Australian TV show all about the early days of motherhood.
Brunch or happy hour: I have to go with brunch!
What are you currently working on? I am currently working on a few digital e-book and course products that will be released soon! Stay in the know by subscribing to my mailing list here: http://www.juneletters.com/handletteredbrand
